Quotes and visits
Do you charge for quotes?
No. Quotes are free.
Can you quote from photos?
Photos help us give you a rough idea and bring the right materials. For new windows, doors, splashbacks and balustrades, we measure on site before giving a firm price.
Can I visit your showroom?
Yes. We're at 31 Alpin Road, Dundee DD3 6HZ. Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 17:00, Friday 07:30 to 16:30.
Do you offer supply only?
Yes. Builders, joiners and DIYers can order made-to-measure windows, doors, units and cut glass from us.
Windows and doors
What profile do you use for uPVC windows?
VEKA. Our windows are fully reinforced and A-rated, with low-E, argon-filled units and warm-edge spacer bars.
How long do doors take to fit?
A straightforward door replacement is usually done in a day.
Do I need permission to change my windows?
Like-for-like replacement usually doesn't, but listed buildings and conservation areas can need planning consent. Check with your local council: Dundee City, Angus, Perth & Kinross or Fife.
Glass and repairs
Why has my double glazing gone misty?
The seal around the sealed unit has failed and moisture has got in between the panes. The fix is to replace the unit. The frame can stay.
What's the difference between toughened and laminated glass?
Toughened glass is heat-treated to be much stronger, and breaks into small blunt pieces. Laminated glass has a plastic layer that holds the pieces together if it breaks. Both are safety glass, used in different places.
Can you fit a cat flap into glass?
Yes, we've done it. The glass is made with the opening in it, so tell us the cat flap model when you ask for a price.
Do you do small jobs?
Yes. No job is too small, from a single pane of greenhouse glass to a mirror cut to size.
