Glass balustrades
Glass balustrades keep a staircase or balcony safe without blocking light or the view. We supply and fit them indoors and out, including glass infill panels set into oak and timber stairs.
- Glass: Toughened / laminated safety glass
- Uses: Stairs, landings, balconies, decking
- Rail: Timber, steel or frameless

Where they're used
Staircases and landings
Glass panels between timber or metal posts, or set into an oak handrail.
Balconies
A clear barrier that keeps the outlook open.
Decking and patios
Windbreaks and edge barriers for raised decks and garden terraces.
Safety
Balustrade glass must be the right safety glass for the height and use. We specify toughened or laminated glass to suit, and fix it so it can take the loads a barrier is designed for. New balustrades on some projects need a building warrant, and your architect or the council's building standards team can confirm.

Can you add glass to an existing oak staircase?
Yes. Glass infill panels can replace spindles between existing posts and handrail.
Do outdoor glass balustrades need much cleaning?
An occasional clean with glass cleaner keeps them clear. Coastal spots such as Broughty Ferry and Monifieth see more salt spray, so they may need it more often.
